Hyacinth Robinson-Powell is the Founding Vice-President of JCAN and a current Board Member with over 40 years of nursing experience and community involvement. She graduated in 1972 from The University of the West Indies as a Registered Nurse, Registered Midwife and Family Nurse Practitioner. Following her two sisters to Canada, she settled in Scarborough and attained her BSc in Nursing from Ryerson University.
In addition to her nursing career, Hyacinth is dedicated to supporting and mentoring others. Hyacinth was the Founding Vice-President of TAIBU Community Health Centre, the multidisciplinary, not-for-profit organization established in Malvern to serve the Afro-Canadian community across the Greater Toronto Area. She is an adored wife, proud mother of one son, and loving grandmother of two grandsons.
Hyacinth cares a lot about her community: “The need is there, so I try to help as much as I can.”
