Janise Smith is a member of the JCAN Board of Directors. She is an adored wife, proud mom of two amazing young men and an alumnus of University of Toronto; graduating with a Commerce and Economics Degree. While raising her boys, she helped her husband, who is a CPA, build his own accounting practice. With her entrepreneurial spirit and armed with the knowledge gathered by working with her husband, Janise decided to own and operate a home care company. It provided services that enable seniors to live safe and independently in the place they called home. One of the key components to the success of her home care company was the planning and the execution of the Marketing program; heavily weighted on PR. In this role, Janise began to get exposure in various Media outlets over several years. Her newfound passion for media is why she jumped at the opportunity to become the Publisher for snapd Scarborough. Being a publisher and a TV personality, Janise has had many amazing opportunities; appearing weekly on Rogers Daytime TO, interviewed the Duchess of York, Sarah Fergusson and attending a press conference with President Barack Obama. Janise has been featured In the UTSC Commons (a University of Toronto Publication) where she has been quoted as saying “her love of Scarborough and strong desire to give back to the community is what keeps her going.” Janise has given back to her community in many ways and was a board member and the Chair of the Communication Committee for the Scarborough Community Renewal Organization (SCRO).
